I found the reference to drone weaponry odd (in the sense of, doesn’t resonate with my values). Is that meant to be an appeal to war hawk/nationalist (i.e. anti-global supply chain) lawmakers?

Yes, exactly - the hope is that maybe it's the kind of thing that might convince some Republican congressional staffer to reconsider attacks on clean energy tax credits.

I did remove the phrase from my message, since my legislators are more eco-conscious and if anything I want them to be less militaristic~

Big question. I believe manganese comes from South Africa, Australia, China, and Mexico. It seems like, given the US’ political dysfunction, we might see China and Europe act intentionally on labour and human rights in mining before we do.
